How to Remove Blackheads at Home

Blackhead problem can happen to people of any age group but it is commonly seen in teenagers & adults. It occurs because of clogged hair follicles in the skin and is the combination of excess sebum, dead skin cells & dirt from outside. Blackheads are a type of acne that forms on the face where they are most noticeable such as on the nose, shoulders, neck & arms.

There are many factors that are responsible for these blackheads like; increasing pollution, stress, dust in the surrounding, many cosmetic products, hectic lifestyle and in some cases also the hormonal changes of the body.
Squeezing them, having a facial, and many other cosmetic products are available in the market that helps you to get rid of these blackheads, but these products have many harmful chemicals that can cause further side effects. The best is to look for the natural ways, the remedy that nature has provided. These natural remedies are not only inexpensive but have least side effects and are easily available right on your kitchen shelf.

Remove Blackheads at Home


1. Sugar-
When dead cells combine with oil causing clogging of pores that develops blackheads. A gentle sugar scrub can help to exfoliate the skin as it clears the clogged pores that lead to those awful blackheads. Mix sugar with olive oil or jojoba oil to make a fine paste. Wash your face as regular and apply this paste onto your skin while scrubbing using your fingertips. Gently scrub in a circular motion for about a minute. rinse it off, pat your skin dry and then moisturize it. Use this treatment at least 3 times a week. 

2. Honey-
It has been used medicinally since centuries, because of its antiseptic & anti-bacterial properties it helps to remove blackheads while destroying the germs or impurities that clog pores and forms acne. Honey is a natural antibiotic that pulls out the dirt from pores of the skin to clear blackheads and also hydrates the skin for a clearer complexion. Make a mixture of honey, lemon juice & sugar, scrub it gently on your skin. Leave the mixture for 15-20 minutes and rinse off with warm water. Use it twice a week for effective results. 

3. Baking Soda-
We make many food dishes in our houses and the most common ingredient in many of them is the baking soda. But baking soda is not only useful in your food items but is also a wonderful product for your skin. Apart from fighting acne, it can also be used to fight the rigid spots. It is an excellent skin exfoliator that scrubs away dead cells, leaving your skin smooth. Baking soda also helps to neutralize your skin pH that produces less oil and keep blackheads & pimples away. Make a paste of baking soda with water and apply on the affected area. Scrub it for 15 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water.

4. Cinnamon-
An anti-bacterial spice that works really well to prevent as well as remove blackheads, treat whiteheads, acne and offers all sorts of skin benefits. It improves the blood circulation, tightens the pores and eliminates flaky skin. Cinnamon also helps to keep your skin healthy, smooth & glowing. Make a mixture of cinnamon powder & honey. Apply it on your skin and leave for 15 minutes. Wash off with water and apply a moisturizer. Repeat this remedy for a month and get the best results.

5. Tomatoes-
One of the best remedy that can work wonders for your blackheads. Tomatoes have the natural anti-bacterial properties that dry up the blackheads. It contains lycopene that has antioxidant effects on your skin. Tomato is also a good exfoliator, helps in declogging the pores and removes all damage-causing free radicals. Make a paste of tomato pulp and apply it over the blackheads before going to bed. Next morning wash it with lukewarm water.
